UNT Policy 15.016 (Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Operations) can be reviewed HERE. Please read the policy before submitting a request.

The University of North Texas is committed to providing a safe environment for the campus and surrounding community. Operating Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly called drones, on or above university property presents safety, privacy, and operational risks. UAS activity may not interfere with the university mission or campus operations.

All UAS use on UNT property, indoors or outdoors, requires prior written authorization. Unauthorized operations are prohibited. Approved flights must comply with all FAA regulations and UNT Policy 15.016.

UAS Operating Requirements

Flights must remain within the approved flight plan and designated boundaries.
UAS must not be flown over people.
A visual observer (spotter) is required for all operations.
The UAS must remain within visual line of sight at all times.
Pilots are responsible for any required FAA airspace authorizations.
Operators must maintain safe control and take manual control if the aircraft deviates from the intended path.
A copy of the approved permit must be available at the flight location.
